Cars in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were notified by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then located numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

An important representative stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
